Signature

The signing of international treaties marks a significant moment in the negotiation process, representing the formal commitment of countries in relation to the agreed terms and provisions. The signing usually takes place at an official ceremony, in the presence of representatives of the countries involved and witnesses. It is a symbolic act that demonstrates the consent of States to fulfill the obligations established in the treaty. However, it is important to highlight that the signature does not imply the immediate entry into force of the treaty, as there is a need for internal approval by the countries involved before they become binding. Signature is, therefore, the first step in the process of establishing an international treaty, marking the initial commitment of countries in relation to its implementation and compliance.
